A13 Thames Gateway (Essex).

The A13 Thames Gateway (Dagenham to M25) opened to traffic in 1998 and 1999. The six laned dual carriageway section of the A13 by-passes the old road which was mostly single carriageway with a number of traffic light controlled junctions at Dagenham and Rainham.

Looking towards Central London at Dagenham Dock railway station in the 1990s. The A13 will go over the railway between the station and the pylon. The Channel Tunnel Rail Link will also come through here on route to St Pancras.

This photo (taken in 2005) shows how Dagenham Dock railway station has changed. The A13 can be seen going over the railway in front of the pylon and the old station buildings (seen on the left of the before photo) have been demolished to make way for the Channel Tunnel Rail Link which can be seen (left of photo).
