St Michael's Mead and A1184 by-pass (Herts).

St Michael's Mead is a housing development on the outskirts of Bishop's Stortford. The photos show how the houses have swallowed up open countryside near Thorley.

This photo shows a temporary route for construction vehicles at Thorley in 1994. The field with the sheep in it is to become the A1184 by-pass.

The route for construction vehicles has gone but the trees have survived on both the before and after photos. What was a field to the right of the tallest tree is now the A1184 Bishop's Stortford south western by-pass.
