South East England Road Photos

Shows pictures of places where new roads have been built showing what the place looked like before the road was built and again after its completion.

Example Scheme

The A282 QE2 Bridge (Dartford Crossing) opened to traffic in 1991 and is used by M25 traffic going south from Essex to Kent. Northbound traffic uses the 2 Dartford tunnels. The QE2 bridge is the only bridge crossing the River Thames east of Tower Bridge in London. The £86 million (privately funded) four laned toll bridge across the Thames at Thurrock was opened by the Queen on october 30th 1991.

Roads that I have taken photos of

I have more photos of roads that I hope to put up here when time allows.

Why?

I did this because my favourite pastime is taking pictures of places which are going to change in the near future. After 2 or 3 years I go back to the same place to see how much it has changed and I take the same picture and then I compare the before and after pictures to see exactly how much things have changed, the results are usually quite impressive. Many buildings are shown on both the before and after pictures even though a new road has been constructed, a good example of this is the A130 at Down House farm near Chelmsford. Other roads are featured (most in south east England). I hope you enjoy looking at my website as much as I enjoyed creating it.
